Islands
An island is often defined as a body of land surrounded entirely by water and smaller than a continent. Over 550 million people live on 43 island nation states, and millions more live on sub-national islands of continental states. Many islands are archipelagos, comprising hundreds of other islands, islets and rocky outcrops. Island places are also highly varied - take Manhattan or Singapore, Macquarie Island or Tuvalu!
There are lots of island networks to explore; we have connections with many of them, and we have listed some on this page to encourage you to check out their special foci and offerings as well.
